If you’re here reading this, chances are that like me, you have a child with allergies. Well welcome to the club. I’m Marianne, mummy to two wonderful children, one of which has multiple food allergies.
You will know of the challenges, those dark days when you weren’t sure why your baby was in so much pain. What had caused mucus filled nappy number 12? You will have the trails of weaning, watching with baited breath when your baby is trying something new for the first time. Well you are not alone. The best thing I can say to you is, it gets easier!
During the last 17 months I have learnt so much about feeding a child with allergies. As I chose to continue breastfeeding my son, I too had to give up a whole range of foods; this was tough! I am someone that LOVES cooking. Suddenly, I found myself having to check the label of every food I bought. My usual go-to meals went out of the window. I had to start from scratch!
I had a family of four to feed and a quite restrictive list of ‘safe’ foods. I found it hard to find recipes, and those I did find were often time consuming to prepare or used an array of ingredients that would have left me bankrupt! So I started to come up with my own recipes and have decided that by sharing them with other people it might make feeding your little ones (and big ones too!) with allergies a little easier.
